Message from Mike
My name is Mike Snipes and I was elected judge of Dallas County Criminal District Court #7 in November 2006. In the 2006 election, I earned 53.8% of the vote to lead the Democratic judicial candidates to victory. I plan to run for reelection in 2010 and need your support. Win in '10!
Prior to my swearing in by the Honorable Barefoot Sanders in January 2007, I had over thirty years of public service. I retired in 2004 from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Colonel after serving two tours in the Middle East, most recently as a political advisor in the 1st Infantry Division during the war in Iraq. I also retired in 2004 as a federal prosecutor after 13 years of trying cases in all federal criminal sections (including General Crimes, Narcotics and Violent Crime, Appeals, and White Collar Fraud and Public Corruption) and being named Prosecutor of the Year by the Greater Dallas Crime Commission. In 2008, I began teaching classes in the public policy and urban development law as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas.
In addition to my public service, I have worked as an attorney in private practice and have a thorough understanding of the challenges on both sides of the courtroom. My goal is to be a judge for all people and to help all sides work together. Between January 2007 and January 2009, my court completed 85 jury trials to verdict. I seek to be a knowledgeable, fair and hard working judge for Dallas County.
